Get faster, more detailed feedback on every mission you apply to
At the heart of the A.Team experience is working on meaningful missions with great teammates, and it all starts by applying to a mission. We've overhauled mission statuses based on feedback from builders to provide more speed, transparency, and empowerment. Mission statuses now deliver a more personalized experience while keeping you up to date on application status every step of the way.
Check Your Application Status
To see the latest update on your application, navigate to Mission Control and click on Applied Missions. Here, you'll be able to see the status of each mission application, split between ‘active’ and ‘concluded’ missions.
Email Updates on Mission Statuses
For every status update, you’ll receive an email notification. If you’re not getting updates on your mission, check your platform notification settings.
Breakdown of Mission Statuses
Each status updates you on the stage of your application. If you’re not selected, you’ll be given feedback as to why you weren’t proposed to the company. You can also learn more about the team formation process here.
In Review
In review means that one of our team formation specialists has received your application and will review it soon. From here, you’ll either be proposed to the company, added to the waitlist, given the opportunity to update your application to improve your chances of being selected, or given feedback as to why you were not selected.
In the email confirming that we've received your application, we'll inform you whether you applied before or after a proposal has been sent to a company. If it’s after, it’s important to note that your chances of being selected are lower as we’ve already proposed another builder to the company.
Opportunity to Update
Opportunity to update is a feature that enables our team to provide feedback when we believe you’re a great fit, but can dramatically increase your chances of being selected by updating missing key requirements such as working hours, relevant experience, or rate.
Opportunity to Update — Rate
We exist to empower builders like you to work on what you want with who you want, while being paid well at a rate you set. Often, companies often have a budget of what they’re able to spend on a mission, which is reflected in the mission’s rate guidance. When you receive feedback on your rate, you can choose to:
- Adjust your rate to be more competitive for the mission: By bringing your rate closer to or in line with the rate guidance, it helps both A.Team and the builder to ensure the proposal moves forward with the company.
- Not update your rate: If you’re strongly aligned in other areas like skills, experience, and availability, you can choose not to update your rate. To do so, resubmit your application to move it back to ‘In Review’. Just keep in mind that choosing not to update your rate may lower your chances of being selected for the mission.
Opportunity to Update — Relevant Experience
If you’re asked to share more relevant experience, please add relevant experience in the form of a project card, past job, or in the pitch section.
When you receive this status, it means your other requirements like skills are well aligned, but we’re looking to see how your past experience may contribute to this mission.
For example, if a health tech company is hiring for an algorithm engineer, and you’ve worked as an algorithms engineer at a health tech company previously, you’ll want to include a project card on how you contributed in that role and the impact you had.
Opportunity to Update — Working Hours
If you’re asked to update your working hours, it means you’re likely a great candidate, but the company would like to have more overlap with your work schedule. You can choose to update your application or keep your working hours, but updating will likely improve your chances of being selected.
In each instance, you’ll need to resubmit your application, whether or not you make updates, to continue being considered.
To resubmit your application, go to Mission Control, click on Applied Missions, and select the relevant mission that you want to update. After updating the relevant parts of your application, click on 'submit' in the upper right-hand corner.
Not Selected
"Not Selected" means your application was not proposed to the company, or the company decided not to move forward with your application after you were proposed or interviewed.
If your application isn’t proposed, you’ll receive feedback as to why you were not selected and how you can improve your application. For example, if your status is "Skills mismatch," it means your skills do not meet the mission's requirements. To increase your chances of being selected, you might need to acquire new skills or apply for missions that better match your current skill set.
If you’re not selected after a proposal or interview, you’ll see a general not selected status. While we’re working on ways for companies to provide feedback as to why your application didn’t move forward, at this time we’re not able to provide further details regarding reasons for not being selected during these stages.
Shortlisted
Shortlisted means we're still reviewing applications, but your skills and alignment with the mission's requirements stood out and you're a top contender to be proposed to the company. We'll finalize the proposal soon and let you know if you’re proposed.
Waitlisted
While your application was strong, other builders’ skills and experiences more closely aligned with the mission’s immediate needs. If the company decides to review additional profiles, you may be considered as one of the next options.
Applications that are waitlisted typically will hear back within a few days whether their application will move forward or not. This step is highly dependent on how quickly a company moves, so hang tight even if you haven’t heard back for a few days.
Proposed
Proposed means A.Team has shared your application with the company for review. You’re one step closer to landing the role, but here’s no action is needed from you at this point.
After the company reviews your application, they’ll either request an interview or decide your application isn’t the right fit for their mission. Keep an eye on your inbox for updates.
Interviewing
Interviewing means you’ve been invited to interview with the company, congratulations! You’ll be sent a link to schedule the interview, or be asked to send your own scheduling link or availability to set up the call.
To get ready for the interview, check out our Mission Interview Guide.
Selected
Congratulations on landing the role! 🎉 Check your email for a message from your team advisor who will share next steps and schedule a kickoff call.
Evaluation Call Pending
If you receive this status, you need to complete a mandatory, one-time evaluation call. You can learn more about the evaluation call here.
To schedule your evaluation call, check your inbox for an email invitation that we sent you previously and schedule the call using the link in that email. If you can't find the email, send an email to evaluation@a.team, and we'll provide you with a new link.
Unavailable
You may receive the unavailable status if you’ve been selected for a different mission, or if your availability has changed since you initially applied. If you received this status and still are available, check your availability settings in your profile and see if they match the mission requirements. If you believe that you have received this status in error, please reach out to the assigned team advisor for further details.
Mission or Role Cancelled
A mission is canceled when a company decides not to move forward with the mission. We know how much time and effort it takes to apply to a mission, which is why we do everything we can to keep canceled missions to a minimum.
Mission or Role Concluded
This mission has concluded. If you have outstanding questions about the mission, you can send an inquiry to the relevant team here.
